Chief Learning Architect, Sorcero
Walter Bender is the Chief Learning Architect at Sorcero, a knowledge-management and learning solutions company. Bender is founder of Sugar Labs, which develops and maintains educational software used by millions of children in more than forty countries. In 2006, Bender co-founded the One Laptop per Child, a non-profit association with Nicholas Negroponte and Seymour Papert. Bender is also co-founder of ReMake Music, which provides pedagogical support for Music Blocks, a programming language used by children to explore mathematical and musical concepts. As director of the MIT Media Laboratory from 2000 to 2006, Bender led a team of researchers in fields as varied as tangible media to affective computing to lifelong kindergarten.
